Boil Water Notice

FWSC has been getting asked when the boil water notice will be rescinded.

In order for us to rescind the notice we are required to do the following per TCEQ:

2. The distribution system has to be flushed and disinfectant residuals must consistently maintain 0.2 mg/L of free chlorine.
3. The residuals must be taken to the lab in Bastrop for testing.
4. Once we get the results back and they pass TCEQ requirements we will be able to rescind the notice. Until then please continue to boil all water used for consumption.

Swiss Alp Well Update

Swiss Alp Well Update:

Operators were able to get the well up and running last night and it is currently pumping into the ground storage tank. We are currently trying to equalize the pneumatic tanks. We are asking for all members on FM 155 Near the Holman Area, FM 1965, FM 1383, FM 3171, Swiss Alp Lp, E Radhost School Rd (if you don’t have water), HWY 77 from FM 2436 to Swiss Alp Dance Hall to turn their personal cut off valves, just past the meter, off. If you do not have a personal cut off valve we are asking to keep all faucets closed while the system pressurizes and we try to fill our main lines. Please leave the cut off valve and faucets off until further notice

Please continue boiling all water for consumption and continue to conserve as much as possible. If you need to wash dishes, please boil the water and then hand wash them. We are still asking members to wait to do their laundry.

We are hoping that by tomorrow members will be able to open their cut off valves and have water and pressure. Hopefully by Friday, our system will be back to normal pressure.

Swiss Alp Well Update

Swiss Alp Well Site Update:
Operators were out at the well site all day working to get the well up and running. We are making progress, but every time we get one thing fixed, another problem presents itself. Operators are continuing to work on the well throughout the evening. We will continue to update as progress is made.

Plum Area

FWSC's Contractor will be repairing a leak near Lowd Street in Plum. Members in this area may experience low water pressure.

Swiss Alp Well Update

Swiss Alp Well Update:
Daniel Wick with Wick Water Well Service was able to pull our Swiss Alp Well yesterday. The pump and motor was separated from the stem pipe but we were able to repair this and the well is now pumping water. However, we still have pipes to the filter system that need to be repaired before we can push water out into the system. Our Operators will be working to repair this today. Hopefully, we will be able to start filling our Ground Storage Tank later today.
Please continue to conserve water. If you have a leak on your side of the meter, please call FWSC to turn the angle stop off at the meter and we will send an operator out.
Please continue to boil water on both the East and West Systems.
FWSC is looking to possibly lift the Boil Water Notice for the East System later this week. We have to take Bac-T samples, and have them pass, before we can rescind this notice.
As water continues to come on, if you see a leak on FWSC's watermain please call us at 979-968-6475.
Please continue to watch for updates via Facebook, our website and KVLG/KBUK. Please also tell those who do not have Facebook, to sign up through our website to receive text/email alerts.
We greatly appreciate everyone's patience throughout this past week.

Water Leaks

If you have a leak on your side of the meter and need the water turned off at the meter, PLEASE call our office at 979-968-6475 and we will send someone out to turn the meter off. It is easier for us to come turn the meter off then to have to replace the angle stop if it breaks. All we ask is that you then put your own personal cut off valve two feet past the meter for your own personal use.
Please continue to report FWSC watermain leaks to 979-968-6475.

Conserve Water

FWSC is asking ALL Members to please conserve as much water as possible. We still have Members that have not had any water since last Sunday/Monday. We are desperately trying to get them water but we need everyone's help in this matter. Please do not run any dishwashers or washing machines as this places a large demand on our system.

Update

Anyone who is needing water can come to the FWSC Office, 200 Bordovsky Road, from 9 AM to 4 PM tomorrow, Sunday, February 21, 2021. Please bring your own containers, pots, coolers, etc.

Checking For Leaks

FWSC is needing to know which Members that have been out of water since Sunday/Monday are now receiving water. Please reply back via email (info@fayettewsc.com) or our Facebook Page with what road you are on and let us know so we can start checking for leaks.

Swiss Alp Well Update

Swiss Alp Well Update:
The Swiss Alp Well will be down for a few more days. The Well itself is going to have to be pulled and we have a crew that can hopefully come tomorrow. We are also still trying to get the parts we need to fix the broken pipes. We are continuing to push water from the Roy Road Well to the La Grange Area to try and get water to Members who are still out. We are still needing Members to conserve as much water as possible and to please not run dishwashers and washing machines. Please remember to continuing boiling all water that is used for consumption.

Emergency Conservation - East System

EMERGENCY CONSERVATION - Rutersville Well, All
Members East of the Colorado River please stop using all unnecessary water. If this does not stop IMMEDIATELY you will be without water again. We understand you are eager to use water again, however, our well simply cannot keep up with the demand in these conditions. We greatly appreciate your help in this matter.

Update

FWSC is asking for your help in reporting leaks. Please report any leaks you see to 979-968-6475. If you have a leak on your side of the meter and need help turning off the meter please give us a call, we’d be happy to turn off the meter for you and then ask you put in a personal cut off valve just 2 feet past the meter.

Please push to conserve water as we are a long way from getting the system back to normal. Just because the weather is better doesn’t mean our system is back to normal.

Please report any leaks and turn off any leaks on your side of the meter.

CONSERVE, CONSERVE, CONSERVE!

Update

Our operators were able to get our FM 1115 Well up and running late yesterday evening. They will continue to work through this weekend on repairing our Swiss Alp Well Site. Please continue to conserve water.

Boil Water Notice - West System

Boil Water Notice for Community Public Water Systems
West System (Members West of the Colorado River - See List Below)
February 19, 2021
Due to reduced distribution system pressure the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the Fayette Water Supply Corporation (PWS: 075022) public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.
Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Fayette Water Supply Corporation at 979-968-6475.

Boiling Water

What should customers on a Boil Water Notice do?

Water for drinking or other human consumption should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

Tips for boiling water:

Fill a pot with water.
Heat the water until bubbles come from the bottom of the pot to the top.
Once the water reaches a rolling boil, let it boil for 2 minutes.
Turn off the heat source and let the water cool
Pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage.

Suggestions for different types of water use:

Preparing and cooking food
Wash all fruits and vegetables with boiled water that has cooled or with bottled water.
Bring water to a rolling boil for 2 minutes before adding food to cook.
Use boiled water when preparing drinks, such as coffee, tea, and lemonade
Wash food preparation surfaces with boiled water.

Feeding babies and using formula
Use ready-to-use baby formula, if possible.
Prepare powdered or concentrated baby formula with bottled water. Use boiled water if you do not have bottled water. Disinfect water for baby formula if you cannot boil your water.
Wash and sterilize bottles and nipples before use.
If you cannot sterilize bottles, try to use single-serve, ready-to-feed bottles.

Ice making
Do not use ice from ice trays, ice dispensers, or ice makers.
Throw out all ice made with tap water.
Make new ice with boiled or bottled water.

Bathing and showering
Be careful not to swallow any water when bathing or showering.
Use caution when bathing babies and young children. Consider giving them a sponge bath to reduce the chance of them swallowing water.

Brushing teeth
Brush teeth with boiled or bottled water. Do not use untreated tap water.

Washing dishes
Household dishwashers generally are safe to use if the water reaches a final rinse temperature of at least 150 degrees or if the dishwasher has a sanitizing cycle.

To wash dishes by hand:
Wash and rinse the dishes as you normally would using hot water.
In a separate basin, add 1 teaspoon of unscented household liquid bleach for each gallon of warm water.
Soak the rinsed dishes in the water for at least one minute.
Let the dishes air dry completely.

Laundry
It is safe to do laundry as usual.

Pets
Pets can get some of the same diseases as people. It is a good idea to give them boiled water that has been cooled too.

Water filters
Boil tap water even if it is filtered. Most kitchen and other household water filters typically do not remove bacteria or viruses.
